Pantone announces 2016 colour of the year
Each year Pantone, the company best known for its Pantone Matching System, announces their favourite colour for the coming year.
Previously Pantone have named colours such as Marsala (a naturally robust and earthy wine red), Radiant Orchid (an expressive, creative and embracing purple) and Emerald (a lively, radiant, lush green). But For the first time ever, Pantone has announced a two-tone colour as its 2016 Colour of the Year. The colours - Rose Quartz; "a warmer embracing rose tone", and Serenity "cooler tranquil blue" - reflect the current consumer trend for calmer, soothing tones.
"As consumers seek mindfulness and wellbeing as an antidote to modern-day stresses, welcoming colours that psychologically fulfil our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent," said Pantone in a release.
